1-Year-Old Teacher

Role Overview

The 1-Year-Old Teacher at I Am Prep Academy will play a pivotal role in nurturing and supporting the development of children in their first year of life. This teacher will create a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment for children to explore and grow, fostering early social and motor skills development.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement a curriculum that supports language development, motor skills, and emotional growth.

• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities to encourage social interaction, independence, and curiosity.

• Provide a nurturing, safe, and supportive classroom environment.

• Monitor and document children’s progress and communicate regularly with parents.

• Work closely with other teachers and staff to support the overall development of each child.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Early Childhood Education certification preferred).

• Previous experience working with young children (especially in a daycare or preschool setting).

VPK Teacher Job Description

Role Overview

At I Am Prep Academy, our Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Teacher plays a vital role in setting 4-year-olds on a path of lifelong learning, self-discovery, and confidence. The VPK Teacher will design and lead an engaging, play-based, and standards-aligned learning environment that promotes emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. Being responsible for preparing children for kindergarten and beyond, this position combines structured early literacy, foundational math concepts, creative arts, and social-emotional growth with warm, nurturing mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and execute rich, developmentally appropriate VPK lessons that build early literacy, phonics, math concepts, science exploration, and critical thinking through hands-on activities and play.

Kindergarten Readiness: Ensure all learning objectives satisfy Florida VPK standards, supporting children in acquiring the skills needed for a smooth and successful transition into kindergarten.

Classroom Environment & Safety: Maintain a safe, structured, joyful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere where children feel encouraged to explore, ask questions, build friendships, and develop independence.

Assessment & Milestone Tracking: Administer Florida VPK progress monitoring assessments, track developmental milestones, and tailor instruction to support each child's individual pace and learning style.

Parent & Family Engagement: Establish strong, open partnerships with parents and families, providing clear communication regarding student achievements, milestones, and individual growth.

Team Collaboration & Compliance: Collaborate with academy leadership and teaching staff to plan activities, participate in professional growth opportunities, and ensure full compliance with DCF regulations and VPK program standards.

Qualifications

Education & Credentials: Valid Florida VPK Staff Credential (e.g., National CDA, FCCPC, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field).

Experience: Prior experience teaching in early childhood education or a state VPK classroom setting is strongly preferred.

State Training: Completion of DCF 45-Hour Mandatory Training courses and required state VPK training modules.

Safety Compliance: Successful completion of Level 2 Background Screening and active CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Key Competencies: Passion for early childhood development, strong classroom management skills, excellent communication, and a warm, positive, and energetic.

3 - 4 Year-Old Teacher

At I Am Prep Academy, we’re looking for a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our team.

Working with 3 and 4-year-olds, you’ll be responsible for creating an inspiring and stimulating learning environment for the children in your care. You’ll help them develop a lifelong love of learning by teaching them age-appropriate materials, including early academic concepts, and preparing them for school.

Responsibilities:

• Establishing a suitable, structured learning environment that is tailored to the children’s educational needs.

• Running classroom activities that encourage curiosity and develop early literacy skills.

• Keeping an organized classroom, so the children remain safe and continuously learn.

• Monitoring the children’s progress, providing frequent updates to their parents.

• Promoting social-emotional growth, including self-regulation and sharing with others.

• Inspire the children’s creativity while ensuring they have respect for each other.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Degree in ECE or a related field (preferred).

• Prior experience working with preschool-age children.

• Strong teamwork skills.

• Able to maintain good communication with colleagues, children, and parents.

• Solid organizational skills.

Compliance Requirements:

• First Aid and CPR certifications (or willing to obtain them).
